Since I didn’t do a whole separate post about this I figured I probably should! I am currently offering a 2010 couple…….DRUMROLL PLEASE…………..FREE wedding photography!!! I did this two years ago right around this time, but forgot to do it last year. Oops. All I need from you is an email (kate@katetriano.com) stating your wedding date/location and a current photo. A nice story about why your love is so special would be awesome too. Contest winners will be announced on the blog on 2/14/10.
***My email server has been acting up, so if you have emailed me and not gotten a reply in 24 hours, please resend it.
The lucky couple will win:
up to 8 hours of photography
engagement session
online gallery
11×14 gallery wrap
10×10 flushmount album w/20 sides
That is the perfect photography collection in my opinion!
Here is a small sneak peek from Vanessa and Jonathans modern/chic wedding:

look how psyched these guys are for the giveaway! :p

Nicole and Eli were married in DC on 10.10.09, and have been patiently waiting for this blog post ever since. They were blessed with a beautiful fall day that was full of love and joy. Enjoy the photos.
*Note to blog readers – all my wedding clients already have all their wedding photos, but everyone still loves a blog shout out!

her dad didn’t want to wrinkle her when he hugged her! ![]()

They opted to see one another before the ceremony for photos. I love it when my clients do that, it really helps the day flow better. BONUS, it also gives you extra time with your sweetie on your wedding day!

We had plenty of time to hit the city for photographs!

Pam Barefoot did the most amazing job planning this wedding. Everything was just spectacular! She has an eye for detail that truly made this wedding come alive. The Museum for Women in the Arts was adorned with lush fabrics and flowers for the ceremony. It was beautifully transformed into a romantic hideaway!

I love this photo of Nicole and her MOH watching guests arrive for the ceremony.

Love the “fabric lifted up” feeling in this photo!

The guests moved upstairs for cocktails while the masters were changing out the room below for dinner and dancing.

The reception room was just absolutely breathtaking. I was in heaven! All of the vendors really outdid themselves. It really was a fantastic team. Pam just knows how to help her B+G’s throw a wedding party!
Florist – Mulitflor
Lighting – John Farr
Catering + Cake – Windows

Nicole and her dad have such a beautiful bond, their dance was so touching!

Chris Laich had the floor packed, and dancing all night. like always!

When a table sings to “New York, New York” like this….you have a party.

Thank you so much for including me in your special day!

I met Lisa years ago when she was a bridesmaid in one of my first clients wedding (who just had a baby, congrats Les and Chris!). She emailed me when she got engaged and told me she has wanted me to be her photographer since back when we met years ago. Swoon! Lisa, you had me at…wedding. ![]()
We caught up back in November, braving the cold, (Jason sacrificed a Skins game), walking around Old Town, chatting about the big day. I am really looking forward to their wedding this July!!
How cute are these two!?

love my tree shot, it was fun to figure out. ![]()

i love the birds on the posts in the background!

See you guys soon!

Being the season of resolutions, diets, changes, and fresh starts, it’s the perfect time to think about the future. I always have about a million things in my mind at one time, just piling more and more “to do’s” on top of the next. I am always making little lists and spreadsheets (obsessed with spreadsheets!) of things to do/buy/etc. Since I have been so delinquent here, I am sharing a special list with you. There are so many things I want to do in my life, and I like to store them somewhere so I don’t forget.
So, a la “bucket list”, and the upcoming “buried life”, here are my must do’s before I die.
live in a city
have a baby (can’t wait for us to be mommy and daddy!)
save a dog from a shelter
read the newspaper everyday
shoot a personal project all in film ( so used to digital now!)
travel to europe
watch the sunrise
volunteer for the ASPCA
sing karaoke in public
bake a cake from scratch
create a self portrait series
blog 3x a week
buy a retro style bicycle
“unplug” myself for a week
do a spa weekend with the girls
photograph my whole family
go to a black tie ball on new years eve
teach a photography class
host a costume party (not on halloween!)
take a cooking class
join a (super laid-back) sports team (dodgeball anyone?)
go horseback riding
watch a silent film
live in a different state (only VA so far, so sad!)
donate something special of mine, to someone who needs it more than i do
organize my personal photos
teach someone (joey) how to drive stick
send a friend a gift, just because
send myself a postcard from every vacation
take an (inspirational) photography workshop
learn a language (italian!)
flip a house
go to a taping of a live show (chelsea handler!)
progress in yoga (aka, be able to do the hardcore stuff!)
photograph a wedding for free each year
So how many of you actually read all that and got to the last one? Free photography? WHAT? You read it right! I did this two years ago and it was totally worth it to me. It’s a rewarding way to give back to the community and gives me the warm fuzzies. 2009 was just so busy I never got around to it. Submit your story and photo to kate@katetriano.com telling me why you should get the free goods. (must be a 2010 wedding, in the DC metro area)
That is just a sampling. Since posts are no fun without pics, here is a sneak peek from Nicole and Eli’s romantic ceremony.

Oh, and if any of my list items speak to you, let me know! We can do them together! Leave a comment. Hey, two posts this week…I’m on a roll! PEACE.

Hey, it’s 2010! That sounds so weird to say! As you can plainly see, I have not kept up on my blogging promises. I am not big on resolutions, but am big on changes for the better. There are many great changes to come this year, blogging regularly being (least of all!) one of them. But more about me later. I’ve promised on facebook to have a new post up today and it’s almost midnight!
Now, on to Nicolette and Chris! They were married in a small wedding a couple of years ago, before Chris was deployed. Now that he home safe, for good, it was a perfect time to renew their vows. They were re-married on September 26th in Alexandria with their closest friends and family there to celebrate. Enjoy the photos!

it was a very rainy day, so umbrellas were a must!

I went to grab Chris for some formals and he was rockin on the piano!

After the ceremony we walked around Old Town a bit and also stopped in at the Hotel Monaco so they could drop off their things before the reception. I love shooting there, so much style! We even shot in their room a little.

It was practically dark and I was soaking wet by the time we got to the Anthenauem, but the photos were worth it!

PS – Happy Birthday to Brandon and Belle!! Oh, and it’s now tomorrow.
